:Sending links to external sites is fine. It's just that a lot of accounts get banned for "spamming links to external sites", because they're spam accounts. They create a page with a bunch of text and links that's basically a lot of nonsense. And we don't know where the links actually lead. It could very well send a virus to your computer. Basically, they're not real people. They're spambots with the sole purpose of spamming the wiki.
