Quest 846 takes place in Daybreak Town.

Story summary

Ephemer, Skuld, Ventus, and Brain discuss Shift Pride, battles between Keyblade Wielders. Not wanting Keyblade Wielders to fight each other, they come up with a plan to use data versions of Keyblade Wielders as opponents.

Meanwhile, Lauriam finds Elrena, and asks her about his sister, Strelitzia.

Ephemer: "..."
Skuld: (offscreen) "What's going on?"
Ephemer: "Oh, hey."
Brain: "What did you want to talk about? I've got books that need reading."
Ephemer: "I'll be quick."
Ventus: "Where's Lauriam?"
Brain: "He's not coming."
Ventus: "What?"
Skuld: "Then shouldn't we do this some other time?"
Ephemer: "Hmm. I'd prefer if all five of us were here for this."
Brain: "Lauriam said you have his support, no matter what."
Ephemer: "Huh?"
Brain: "It's simple. He believes in you, Mr. Leader."
Ephemer: "But EVERYONE here is a leader."
Brain: "I guess you've got a point. Well, let's get started for now."
Ephemer: "A-all right."
Ephemer: "When we became Union leaders... ... we all received a copy of the rulebook."
Ephemer: "Do you remember reading about Shift Pride?"
Skuld: "That. Right..."
Brain: "You mean the part about Keyblade wielders fighting each other? Sure. Why do you ask?"
Ventus: "Wait. Keyblade wielders fighting each other!?"
Ephemer: "Didn't you read the book, Ven?"
Ventus: "I did, but...I guess I didn't realize what it meant."
Brain: "Isn't it just a friendly competition? I think everyone could use a bit of entertainment. Besides, it's not like we have much of a choice. It's in the book."
Ephemer: "I know, but..."
Ventus: "I disagree."
Brain: "Whoa, Ven. When did you grow a spine?"
Ventus: "This is serious. I don't like the thought of wielders turning their weapons against each other."

Chirithy: "Not again..."
Chirithy: "Don't get involved. I know it's frustrating, but you can't fix everything."
Chirithy: "Everyone seems to have a bone to pick. I hope things don't get any worse..."
Player: "!"
Chirithy: "The Player!"
Chirithy: "Wait! We're all on the same side!"
Keyblade wielder 2: "Are we? Then why did they steal our Lux?"
Keyblade wielder 1: "What are you talking about? We're just trying to protect the light. I'll bet good munny that it's your Union that's fallen into darkness. Traitors!"
Keyblade wielder 2: "What did you say!? How can you prove YOU'RE not the traitor!?"
Chirithy: "Hold on! We're all on the same side! Why are you fighting!?"
Keyblade wielder 1: "Mind your own business!"
Skuld: "Stop it!"
Chirithy: "Skuld!"
Keyblade wielder 1: "Who are you? Which Union do YOU belong to?"
Skuld: "It doesn't matter. Our only enemy is darkness. Our Keyblades aren't meant to harm one another!"
Keyblade wielder 2: "Anyone who tries to steal the light is no different than a monster of darkness!"
Skuld: "What!?"
Keyblade wielder 3: "The war's already begun."

Skuld: "I also disagree. Nothing good will come of it."
Brain: "Well, it's two against one. It's up to you, Ephemer."
Ephemer: "Up to me, huh?"
Ephemer: "I think we should do what it says."
Ventus: "What!?"
Skuld: (simultaneous) "Ephemer!"
Brain: "Lauriam also agrees. So I guess it's settled."
Ephemer: "Not so fast, Brain."
Brain: "What?"
Ephemer: "I said we should follow the book. But I don't want wielders fighting each other."
Ephemer: "Remember how all the worlds were recreated as data after the Keyblade War? That means we were also recreated as data."
Ephemer: "All of us."
Brain: "...Oh, I get it."
Ventus: "Get what?"
Ephemer: "People don't have to fight each other. They can fight other wielders' data instead."
Brain: "That way, we can still follow the rules without actually hurting one another."
Brain: "Right?"
Ephemer: "Exactly."
Ventus: "I can agree to that!"
Skuld: "Yeah, me too."
Brain: "It's a clever plan and all, but... A little TOO clever coming from you."
Ephemer: "Hey! Well, maybe I did have a little help from Lauriam."
Brain: "Lauriam?"
Ephemer: "Yeah, a few days ago—"

Lauriam: (offscreen) "What's the matter? You look troubled."
Ephemer: "Oh, hey, Lauriam. I was thinking about that Shift Pride thing mentioned in the book."
Lauriam: "Oh, yeah?"
Ephemer: "It might just be a friendly competition, but I don't like the thought of wielders fighting each other. But it's written in the book, so we have no choice."
Ephemer: "Why would Master Ava and the others want us to do this?"
Lauriam: "Hmm. Maybe it's all just a big prank?"
Ephemer: "Come on, be serious."
Lauriam: "But you smiled. You really need to take it easy. Stop being so serious all the time."
Ephemer: "You're right. I have been kind of anxious since I became a Union leader."
Ephemer: "Thanks, Lauriam."
Lauriam: "Don't mention it. There are only five of us, and we need to stick together."
Ephemer: "Where are you going?"
Lauriam: "Well, once the Keyblade War ended... ...the worlds were recreated in data along with the people in them."
Lauriam: "I'm looking for someone who was supposed to have become a Dandelion... ...but I haven't seen them anywhere. So I thought I'd search the data."
Ephemer: "That's worrying. Can I help?"
Lauriam: "Thanks, but it's a personal matter. I'd like to sort it out myself."

Skuld: "He's looking for someone?"
Ventus: "I wonder who."
Brain: "It seems like a private matter, so let's not get involved. Not unless he asks us to."
Skuld: "You're right."
Ephemer: "In any case, we can thank Lauriam for this solution. I wouldn't have come up with it myself!"
Ephemer: "Too bad he's not here to take credit for it."

Lauriam: "Are you Elrena?"
Elrena: "Yes, I am."
Lauriam: "I want to ask you about my sister..."
