Before quest

The Player visits the Dwarfs in their cottage.

Well, hello friend. Sorry we're in such a plate—uh—uh, state.
We were supposed to start workin' again but, um, well...

Dopey's gone and lost the key to the mine.
No matter where we look we can't find it.

Hmph! Fool prob'ly dropped it on the way home.

Defeat the Heartless so the Dwarfs can find the key and get back to work.

During quest

I don't see it anywhere.
