Prologue

Note: This cutscene is not replayable.

The Book of Prophecies opens, flipping past pages detailing the Heartless to reveal a pop-up scene depicting Kairi picking flowers at Radiant Garden, as her Grandma tales her a tale of the Keyblade War.

  Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light.
Everyone loved the light.

Kairi's Grandma turns away solemnly.

  Then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves.
-
Kairi stands.

  And darkness was born in their hearts.
The darkness spread, swallowing the light, and many people's hearts.
It covered everything, and the world disappeared.
-
Kairi's Grandma turns back to Kairi.

  But small fragments of light survived,
in the hearts of children.
With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world.
It's the world we live in now.

The Book flips back to an earlier page, detailing the Keyblade.

Look deep inside your heart.
The Book flips to a pop-up scene depicting a Station in The Player's Dive to the Heart.

This is where your journey begins.
The camera zooms in on the Station, and the scene fades to the game logo.

Banisher of darkness, gatherer of light—what is your name?
The Player answers.

How do you see yourself?
The Player answers, and awakens at their Dive to the Heart. As they step forward, the sigils of the five Unions materialize around them.

Which Union does your heart belong to?
The Player answers. Suddenly, darkness begins to swallow the Station and The Player, but just as they are engulfed, a bright light shines out and banishes the darkness, revealing The Player wielding the Keyblade.

The Keyblade holds the power of light—the power to drive away the darkness.
The Keyblade blazes with light, and The Player appears in Daybreak Town.
After quest

  Pretty scary stuff, huh? But you get an A for effort.

The Player is surprised.

  You look a little confused. Here's what's going on.
Your pursuit of light made you the perfect candidate for a Keyblade wielder.
Darkness is spreading and it's up to you to use the weapon to get rid of it,
collect light, and in turn save the world.
The monster that was just defeated belongs to the darkness and is called a Heartless.
These Heartless scour the world searching for hearts,
spreading darkness as they go.
The Keyblade is an effective weapon against them.

Chirithy hops back and forth.

  I hope this is all sinking in...
Anyway, I was assigned by a certain someone to watch over a new Keyblade wielder—you!
I'm Chirithy.
I'll be supporting you the whole way, teaching you everything you need to know and more.

The Player smiles.

  Nice to meet ya!
Right now, that Keyblade is just like you—it has room to grow.
To unleash its true power, you'll need to use "fragments"
—special Medals that you can set in your Keyblade.
Anyway, that's a lot to take in,
so why don't you use the Heartless here for some practice?

The Player starts the battle with the Darkside. Each Union member lands a hit on the Darkside., then The Player finishes it off.

  There are others who collect the light, but not all of them
share the same goal of bringing peace to the world.
You must discover who amongst us walks the path of darkness.

The Player nods, and Master Ira exits through a Lane Between. The other Keyblade wielders leave as Chirithy returns.

  I know this is overwhelming, but darkness waits for no one!
In fact, it's found its way to a bunch of other worlds,
which need your help.
I know a way to these places.
Are you ready?

The Queen stands before the Magic Mirror in the Magic Mirror Chamber.

  What wouldst thou know, my Queen?

The Queen adjures the Mirror.

  Magic Mirror on the wall—who is the fairest one of all?

  Famed is thy beauty, Majesty,
but hold—
A lovely maid I see
—Rags cannot hide her gentle grace. Alas, she is more fair than thee.

The Queen scowls.

  Alas for her! Reveal her name.
-

  Lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow—
-

  Snow White!
-
Snow White strolls to the well in the Courtyard, singing, as the Prince walks up and joins in her song. He introduces himself, but the maiden shyly runs back into the castle. Undaunted, the Prince stands at the stairs and continues the song, charming her back out. The Queen watches resentfully from a window overhead.

Quest 5 Edit

Before quest
The Player crosses the bridge and defeats a small group of Shadows. A dwarf then approaches The Player

  Why, why, who are you?
I was standin' right over there, and I saw you use that key of yours
to get rid of those teachers—uh, creatures.

The Player shows their Keyblade to the dwarf, who leans in for a closer look, then sighs and slumps.

  They've been nothin' but bubbles—uh—uh troubles.

The dwarf picks up.

  Oh, dear, I haven't introduced myself!
I'm Doc.
Me and my friends smirk in the twine—uh, work in the mine.
-

  Today was just a plain ol' day
until those—those monsters sprung up outta nowhere.
We all ran out to chase 'em away, but no one's come back.
-
Doc slumps.

  Oh, where could they have gone?
-
Doc picks up.

  I should thank my muddy jars—uh, lucky stars you showed up!
I didn't know what to do.
I was sure I was done for!
-
Doc nods and clasps his hands.

  Well—uh, well, perhaps you wouldn't mind helping me find my friends?
I sure could use a band—uh, stand—uh, your help.

The Player nods and Doc smiles.

  You will? Oh, thank you!
-
The Player and Doc look at the dark forest, then back at each other.

  I'll show you the way to the mine.
Maybe we'll see one of the men on the way.

Doc leads the way toward the forest.

I'm gonna pake a teak—uh, take a peek inside to see if anyone's come home.
